Clinton’s Yoselin Soto – Volleyball Spotlight – Presented by Oklahoma Bank & Trust

Yoselin Soto, a dedicated senior at Clinton High School, has been a standout player on the volleyball team for the past three years. “I’ve been playing volleyball for three years now, and I started playing volleyball my freshman year. It interested me, and I decided to join the team and try it out.”

Inspired by a TV show and a longstanding desire to try volleyball, Yoselin found her biggest influences in the past seniors of the team. “What inspired me was a TV show, and I have just always wanted to try volleyball in general. The past seniors are my biggest influences,” she shared.

This year, Yoselin has noticed a significant improvement in team chemistry. “I’d say that we are pretty connected this year. We enjoy each other’s company and playing with each other.”

Yoselin sees herself as a leader, guiding and supporting the underclassmen. “I think that my role is as a leader is to help and guide the underclassmen,” she said, emphasizing her commitment to fostering a supportive team environment.

Her goals for the season are ambitious yet grounded. “My goals and hopes are to improve my skills, help out the team, and maybe win the state,” she said. To achieve these goals, Yoselin dedicates herself to rigorous training. “A typical week of training is working out my arms, my legs, my core, agility, and working on being in shape,” she explained.

One of the highlights of her season has been witnessing the team’s progress. “One of the best highlights of this season is seeing how far our team has come,” she said.

Looking ahead, Yoselin sees herself close to graduating college, though she doesn’t plan to continue playing volleyball post-high school. “In five years, most likely close to graduating college and I don’t think I’ll be playing volleyball after high school.”

Yoselin’s advice to aspiring players is to “practice as you’ve never won and perform as you’ve never lost; give it your all.”

Off the court, Yoselin Soto looks up to her family for inspiration. “They always tell me to do my best.” Her other hobbies include playing soccer and participating in the band.
