Clinton’s Michele Granger: Teacher of the Month – Presented by S&D Drug

Michele Granger is not just a teacher at Clinton High School; she’s a passionate educator, coach, and mentor who brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her roles.

“I teach at Clinton High School and have been here for nine years and love it. I actually live in Mountain View but consider myself a Red Tornado through and through,” Michele said, highlighting her deep connection to the school and community.

Michele’s teaching portfolio is diverse and impactful: “I teach 12th grade English IV, yearbook, photography and coach archery. I also assist coaching archery at the middle school.”

Michele’s journey into teaching was a deliberate and fulfilling career shift: “Teaching was a later in life career move for me.” After a successful career in sales and marketing in Dallas, Texas, she returned to Oklahoma to pursue a master’s degree in education. “I fell in love with teaching,” she reminisced about her time as an adjunct professor at SWOSU, which ultimately led her to the high school and junior high classroom.

Reflecting on her own upbringing in Gotebo, Oklahoma, Michele acknowledges the mentors who shaped her path: “There were a number of people that made an impact on me.” Notably, her high school teachers Cheryl Zimmerman and Mary Kirchoffner played pivotal roles in nurturing her skills and passions.

“The best teaching advice I have received actually came from my mom and my recently deceased father, Susan and Buford Charles,” Michele shared. Their wisdom to stay true to herself and inspire her students echoes in her approach to education.

Michele’s teaching philosophy centers on empowering students: “I especially love showing them how to use their voice and that they can make a difference in the world — that their thoughts and ideas matter.”

One of Michele’s memorable moments encapsulates the blend of her roles: “Photographing for our yearbook from the sidelines at the 2021 state championship football game and getting hit by one of our football players! It was absolutely worth the pain to capture the memories for the players, coaches and school of that incredible 35-0 win over Tuttle.”

Michele Granger embodies the spirit of a dedicated educator, bringing passion, wisdom, and creativity to her students’ lives while leaving a lasting impact on the Clinton High School community.
