Clinton’s Craig Hunter – Baseball Spotlight – Presented by The Battin Barn

Craig Hunter is a senior at Clinton High School. Craig participates in baseball, NHS, FFA, and FCA. He’s been playing baseball since he was only four years old. Craig’s dad signed him up for t-ball, and he’s loved it ever since. The highest moment in his career so far, was being selected to pitch in the Oklahoma state games in 2024. His favorite sports moment was when his team made a comeback and won in the game against Leedey this year. Craig’s favorite part about baseball is pitching, and the friendships that he’s been able to make along the way.

Craig’s biggest positive impact is his dad, because he always makes time to practice with him and always makes sure that Craig is giving his best effort. His role models are his dad and brother. “They have been great examples for me in life and also for sports,” he says.

Craig’s favorite subject in school is history, because he enjoys hearing about the World Wars. His favorite teacher is Mrs. Walker-Badillo, because she was always very friendly, would push her students to do their best, and was very encouraging. In his free time, Craig likes to go to the lake, hunt, fish, and shoot trap. After high school, Craig plans to pitch in college and eventually run his own sports rehabilitation facility.

For Craig, being a great athlete takes hard work, determination, and leadership. “If you are determined to get better and put in hard work, the hard work will pay off,” he says. Craig also says that stepping up to lead your team or having a leader can bring out the best in people. When things get tough, Craig puts all his trust in God. His advice to his fellow athletes is to work hard, push others to work hard, be a good teammate, and be tough when things aren’t easy.
