

Out in western Oklahoma, Montiel Crane, a senior at Clinton High School, is a standout athlete, mastering both football and track and field. Playing offensive and defensive lines in football and throwing in track, Montiel is set for a stellar senior season on the field. When asked about his motivation, Montiel simply stated, “Gold.”
His uncle serves as a guiding light in Montiel’s athletic journey: “He showed me a way better than the one I had for myself.”
Among the educators at Clinton High, Mrs. Jo Dee Adney holds a special place in Montiel’s heart. “She was always there, no matter what subject I needed help in.” For Montiel, success in sports demanded a trifecta of “time, studying and hard work.”
One of the most remarkable moments of Montiel’s illustrious career was when he clinched the state title twice in a single year. When questioned about his toughest opponent, Montiel humbly replied, “Myself, because the only person stopping me is me.”
In the realm of practice, Montiel finds solace in the work ethic of his teammates Wyatt and Kat. “They give you a good look, and if you’re at a low point, they will bring you up.” In the cohesive environment of Clinton, Montiel believed that every player received their due appreciation: “Everyone gets love in Clinton.”
Outside of sports, Montiel’s involvement in campus activities revolves around athletics. Post-graduation, his aspirations were clear: “Go to college and get my degree in business management.” Representing his school and community is a responsibility he takes seriously. To Montiel, it meant “giving it all you got whether you’re winning or losing, keeping your head high through the pain, always wanting better and to be more.”
Montiel’s journey is a testament to dedication, perseverance and his unwavering pursuit of excellence. As he continues to soar on the track and the field, his story inspires those around him, leaving a legacy of hard work and determination at Clinton High School.
