Clinton Red Tornadoes Basketball Team Preview – Presented by Misty Gossen – Farmers Insurance Agent

CLINTON RED TORNADOES

COACH: Mark Seiter

Record: 8-18

OUTLOOK

In his first year leading the Clinton Red Tornadoes, head coach Mark Seiter is focused on turning close losses into wins. With a veteran core and an infusion of new talent, the Red Tornadoes are confident that experience will pay off this season.

“We return three starters from last year’s team — Titan Malone, Ronnie Redshin, and Ethan Lofland,” said coach Seiter. “Ethan and Ronnie were tied for being our leading scorers at nine points per game, and Titan was our leading three-point shooter last year at 36 percent. We also have a senior that moved into our district named DJ Lister who we are anticipating playing a key role for us this season.”

Senior guard Titan Malone (5-11, G, Sr.) brings leadership and consistency to the floor. “Titan averaged seven points, three rebounds, and three assists per game, and he’s one of our best on-ball defenders,” said Seiter. “We’re expecting him to take his game up a notch as a senior.”

Fellow senior Ronnie Redshin (5-9, G, Sr.) is a proven scorer. “Ronnie averaged nine points and one steal per game last year,” Seiter said. “He had multiple 20-point games and several where he made three or more threes. He’s a hard worker, and we think he’ll have a really good senior year.”

Ethan Lofland (6-4, Jr.) returns after matching Redshin’s nine points per game and grabbing three rebounds a night. Newcomers DJ Lister (6-4, Sr.) and Wes Switzer (5-11, Sr.) bring additional experience to the roster, while Kyron Forrest (6-2, Sr.) will be another key contributor inside.

The Red Tornadoes will rely on effort and depth to make an impact defensively. “Out of our 18 losses last season, about half we were either leading or within single digits going into the fourth quarter,” said Seiter. “We feel like the experience we gained last year will help us close out those close games better this season.”

Underclassmen like Easten Powell (6-1, So.), Conner Meget (6-3, So.), Dyson Ellis (5-5, So.), Ryder Adams (6-0, Jr.), Snider Dowdell (5-9, So.), and JJ Ruiz (6-2, So.) give Clinton exciting young depth.

“We should have an exciting group,” said Seiter. “Our guys have worked hard, and I’m looking forward to seeing them compete every night.”
