Clinton’s Audrina Trout – Softball Spotlight – Presented by First National Bank & Trust

For Audrina Trout, softball is more than just a game; it’s a way of life. A senior at Clinton High School and proud enrolled member of the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes, Audrina has spent her life growing through the sport she loves.

An outfielder with heart and hustle, Audrina brings relentless energy to the field. Her dedication is fueled by family, especially her father, Tommy Trout, whose encouragement and example have inspired her both as an athlete and as a person. She also draws strength from her stepmom, Gina, and the lasting influence of her late grandparents, Skeeter and Thomas Trout. “My Grandma Skeeter never missed a game,” Audrina says. “And my Papa, who played and coached softball, passed his love for the game down to me.”

She credits Coach Misak for shaping her mindset and leadership skills, and she’s proud of earning Honorable Mention honors as a sophomore, a recognition that proved consistency and effort never go unnoticed.

Audrina doesn’t focus on rivalries; every opponent gets the same intensity. “I give everything I’ve got, respect my opponent, and never take a play for granted,” she says. “I wear the Clinton jersey with pride, for my family, my community, and my team.”

This season, she’s especially enjoyed mentoring the freshmen players. “They’re the future of our program, and it’s been rewarding to help lead them. Our team is a family.”

Off the field, Audrina is a member of the Native American Club and participated in weightlifting with Coach Higbee. She manages her time to maintain strong grades while staying fully committed to her sport.

In her downtime, you’ll find her watching highlight reels and cheering on the Oklahoma Sooners, her favorite team. “Watching them reminds me why I love this game.”

As she prepares to wrap up her senior season, Audrina carries with her the pride of her heritage, the lessons from those who came before her, and the unshakable spirit of a Red Tornado.

The offseason has also looked different this year—not just for Chavez, but for the entire Clinton team. “We’ve gone to summer track meets,” she said. “It gave us more exposure and showed us what we need to improve before the season kicks in.”

That commitment is paying off in a noticeable way. “We’ve all made new personal records,” Chavez said. “It’s been really exciting to see everyone getting better together.”

Chavez believes that shared improvement stems from something deeper than talent or drills. “We’ve gotten really good teaching, and we have strong predecessors,” she said. “It’s helped us become more confident and well-coached as a team.”

But even in a competitive environment, Clinton’s track team hasn’t lost its heart. “One thing people might not know is that we joke around a lot,” Chavez said with a grin. “But we are all super determined and committed to this sport.”

When asked about her legacy, she doesn’t hesitate. “I want to hold the school records and be remembered,” she said.

Her favorite memory in a Clinton uniform? “When coach John Higbee said he would never buy us Crumbl, but fFor Audrina Trout, softball is more than just a game; it’s a way of life.
