High school athletes have a number of people that they can look up to as role models. It could be a celebrity or professional athlete or it could be someone closer to home. Deontray Beavers has a couple of people that have impacted his life.

“My biggest influences and role models are Gabriel Martinez and Josh Martinez,” Beavers said. “They have taught me everything and they are always there when I need them and they always push me to better myself everyday on and off the field.”

Deontray is in his senior year at Clinton High School, where he is the center attacking mid for the soccer team. Outside of school, he is also a part of the Western Oklahoma Futbol Club and he also played on Oklahoma Cosmos Ecnl-rl.

Beavers and his teammates work really well together and they have seen their hard work pay off in the form of championships.
“Our success comes from the team bond that we have had every year,” he said. “We are very close, it is basically a family out there. We do everything together and we do not quit on each other no matter what happens. I enjoy working against Armando Santoyo the most because we both are competitive and do not like losing no matter what it is.”

Over his high school career, there have been some memorable moments that Beavers has shared with his teammates.

“The highlight for me would have to be winning the state title back to back in 2022 and 2023,” he said.

Being able to wear the Clinton jersey is not something that Deontray takes lightly. He is proud to be able to compete for his school and community.

“I would say it’s a blessing to represent Clinton anywhere,” he said. “We have built this program to where it is now every year, everyone looks forward to us playing. Out of all the teams we play, I enjoy beating Weatherford and Woodward the most. I like reminding them who big bro is.”
