Q&A with Clinton’s Addison Newcomb
VYPE: What sports do you play?
Addison Newcomb: I play softball, golf and I cheer.
VYPE: What motivates you?
AN: I think words of encouragement from coaches, parents and players motivate me the most.
VYPE: Who are some of your biggest influences or role models?
AN: I would say my biggest role models are my parents and my grandparents. I want to be just as successful as all five of them in everything I do. I want to love my family as hard as they do and have a very strong relationship with God.
VYPE: What teacher has had the biggest impact on your life?
AN: I would have to go with Whitney Misak. She is my softball coach and was my science teacher. She thought me to work hard at what I want.
VYPE: What has it taken to be successful in your sports?
AN: It takes a lot of practice, patience and acceptance.
VYPE: What has been the highlight moment of your career?
AN: Cheering in the state championship my freshman year. We were not supposed to win, and we shut Tuttle down 35-0!
VYPE: Is there an opponent that you enjoy beating the most?
AN: Weatherford High School. They are our rival school, and they like to talk a lot of trash. (Most of the time, they are wrong!)
VYPE: Which teammate do you enjoy working against the most with in practice?
AN: I would have to go with Kambree Davis. Her and I are pretty equivalent in a round of golf, and we are always having to compete. Last year we had a 45-hole playoff against each other for a bag!
VYPE: What clubs and campus activities are you involved with?
AN: FCA and NHS.
VYPE: What are your plans after high school?
AN: I plan to continue my cheer career and earn a degree in health sciences at Southwestern Oklahoma State University.
VYPE: What does it mean to you to represent your school and community when you play?
AN: It means a lot to me. I want to make a great impression on Clinton athletically, but I also want people to see our great sportsmanship.
