Q&A with Colton Scott – Presented By: S & D Drug

Clinton High School freshman Colton Scott competed to a productive debut season on the school’s froshmore academic team this spring.

“[Scott] was the team MVP at this year’s Tournament of Champions at Rose State College,” Clinton academic bowl head coach Wes Miller said. “The team qualified for the ToC by winning their district in the social studies division, which is his specialty.”

Scott’s specific area of expertise, he said, is “turn of the century and into the modern day.

“So anything from the 1890s to now,” Scott said.

Scott explained his excellent performance at the Tournament of Champions modestly.

“I don’t know what to say. I just got questions that were in my area of expertise, he said.

Scott also competes on Clinton’s esports team, one of the fastest-growing sports among youths.

“What I enjoy about esports is that gaming was something that I already did and getting to do that as an actual extracurricular activity is something I thought I would never see,” Scott said.

And he keeps the plate overflowing. Scott is also active within Clinton’s FFA program.

“What I enjoy most about FFA is that it’s like a family,” Scott said. “Everyone knows and cares for each other.”

Scott hopes his well-roundedness will assist him when it comes time for college admissions.

“On top of looking good on my college resume, these are all things I can get a college scholarship from,” Scott said. “I can get a full ride scholarship from esports to colleges like UCO, OU, [and] SWOSU. I can even get scholarships from academic bowl and FFA.”

Scott plans to keep with his extracurriculars and keep his grades up in the meantime.
